June 1 – International Children’s Day

“If your plan is for the year – sow wheat,
If your plan is for decades – plant trees,
If your plan is for life – teach children “

Oriental wisdom

Children are our future, a continuation not only of ourselves, but also of our family, our State, our meaning of life. Mankind always strives for one thing – to make the world better for their descendants.

On June 1, the whole world celebrates the International Children’s Day.
International Children’s Day is one of the oldest international holidays, as it was approved in 1949 by the International Democratic Federation of Women. The date was first celebrated in 1950, when the United Nations declared the protection of the rights, life and health of children one of its priorities.

Unfortunately, despite all efforts, the children of Ukraine today suffered the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“In Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts, 34 children have been killed and about 100 wounded since the beginning of the armed conflict. About 18,000 children have been disabled on the line of contact. We need to think now about how they will be integrated into a peaceful life, Deputy Prosecutor General Gyunduz Mamedov told Censor.Net.

The UN human rights monitoring mission reports a much larger number of casualties: about one and a half hundred children have been killed and nearly 400 injured since the start of hostilities in Donbas.
Many of them lost one or two parents, were forced to leave their homes, or worse, were unable to do so, and continue to live where enemy shelling rages every day.

When going to war, defending Ukraine today from Russian expansion, all our soldiers say – “I came here to protect my children, so that they would live better there, on free land, and that they would never know the horror of war, which was experienced by their parents while at the front”. It has always been so, and it will be so.

NGO “Association of Ukrainian Defense Manufacturers” provides charitable support to children of the Mariupol region, who first of all need human care and attention.
Thus, the Executive Directorate of the Association together with the Mariupol organization of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine purchased and handed over school backpacks, stationery and such much-needed personal protective equipment (masks, respirators and antiseptics) for children with special needs of educational institutions of Mariupol, settlements Talakivka and Vynohradne, Donetsk region.

The Executive Directorate of the Association has taken over the patronage of these educational institutions and in the future plans to make every possible contribution to solving their financial problems, which, unfortunately, are lacking today.

I wish all children boundless happiness, tender smiles, fulfillment of dreams, and most importantly good health.
May childhood always live in your hearts, and the future will be full of bright events and achievements. Good luck to you, peaceful sky over your head and success in all endeavours!
