Robotics will be in the service of the military!

Back in the 1940s, the word “robotics” appeared only in the stories of the famous American science fiction writer Isaac Azimov, and in the high-tech 21st century, robotics has become an integral part of most areas of our lives. Robotics focuses on the creation of robots and robotic systems designed to automate complex technological processes and operations, including those performed in non-deterministic conditions, to replace humans during heavy, tedious and dangerous work.

Combat robot (or Military robot) – an automatic device that can replace a person in combat situations to save lives or to work in conditions of increased complexity for people for military purposes: reconnaissance, hostilities, demining, etc.

With the assistance of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the leadership of the NGO “Association of Ukrainian Defense Manufacturers” held a demonstration of robotic platforms on May 21 to determine tactics, technical characteristics and decide on their use in modern combat.

The demonstration was held at the proving ground of Air Assault Forces in the Zhytomyr Region, led by the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces Lieutenant general Moisiuk Yevhen Heorhiyovych.

The association represented companies-manufacturers of robotic platforms the Design and Production Enterprise «SYNERGY» LLC, “Robotics Design Bureau” LLC, LLC “Roboniers” and LLC “Infoco LTD”.

During the demonstration, all companies showed their unique capabilities to create robotic equipment for law enforcement agencies. However, despite the results and high technical capabilities of the samples, the demonstration revealed many problems and shortcomings. This indicates that manufacturers create samples of equipment, but do not communicate enough with the military, which in turn leads to the fact that the samples need to be improved and increased functional purpose.

According to the results of the demonstration, it was concluded that, first of all, the military needs to form clear tactical and technical requirements for these robotic systems, and all manufacturers must take into account these requirements and improve the demonstrated samples.

All models of robotic systems need to be improved and only after their completion and further state tests a decision will be made on the possibility of putting them into service with further serial production for units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Urgent rearmament of the Armed Forces on the basis of maximum use of the latest robotic systems is an urgent issue of military security, without the solution of which Ukraine will not be able to successfully resist Russian aggression and other threats and challenges.
