F-35 finished the shooting test of missiles JSM

Multirole combat aircraft finished the shooting test of cruise missiles JSM (Joint Strike Missile) – Ukrainian Military Portal.

The first photos of the successful test, conducted in February 2021, were published by the Public Defense Materials Agency of Norway.

The JSM missiles were tested in the United States, where F-35s took off from Edwards Air Force Base in California and shot missiles at ground targets.

The testing consisted of several stages – missile flight, separation of JSM from the aircraft, etc.

During the flight, the missile was thoroughly tested. The safe separation of the JSM by air discharge from the F-35A was also completed.

The aircraft will be able to carry two missiles in the inner compartments of the F-35, and additional ones on the outer pylons of the wing.

The F-35 cruise missile is made using stealth technology, and the guidance system allows you to hit with high accuracy both marine and ground targets.

JSM – joint strike missile

The JSM missile was first used from an aircraft in 2015, when an F-16 combat aircraft was used as an air carrier.

The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace is the developer of the missile. In fact the cruise missile JSM is an aviation version of the anti-ship NSM (Naval Strike Missile) with an extended range of up to 280 km.
