Conference “Creation and Modernization of Arms and Military Equipment in Modern Conditions”


On September 05-06, 2019 at the State Research Institute for Testing and Certification of Weapons and Military Equipment held the annual XIX Scientific and Technical Conference “Creation and modernization of weapons and military equipment in modern conditions” in the newly established institute. More than 150 state and private defense enterprises of Ukraine (bodies of military management of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, state security agencies, scientific institutions, enterprises of the industry of Ukraine, including the Association of Manufacturers of Arms and Military Equipment of Ukraine) participated in the event. The conference was aimed at assessing the current state of work on the creation and modernization of weapons and military equipment, working out proposals for further directions of modernization and ways of solving problematic issues.

The Association of Manufacturers of Arms and Military Equipment of Ukraine at the plenary meeting presented a report by Denis Kachalov and Dmitry Toporenko

Among other things, the event dealt with the issues of organization and testing, scientific and technical support of the development of new and modernized samples of weapons and military equipment in the special period. Speeches and reports of the participants of the event were related to the creation, development and use of armored vehicles, small arms, paratroopers and special equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as ultralight aircrafts, diving equipment, surface and underwater robotic military equipment, and other important military equipment, technology. Several organizational, legal issues and ways of development of the experimental-testing base of the Armed Forces are discussed.

Based on the results of the scientific and technical conference, proposals are proposed to improve the regulatory framework, accelerate the development of experimental and testing facilities, the development of equipment and facilities for search and rescue, amphibious and special operations and the implementation of underwater activities, metrological support and standardization.

In general, the tasks that were set before the conference were accomplished. All participants of the conference are oriented in the critical directions of further development of weapons and military equipment.
